Caravan industry booming

According to an article in The Australian published last year, the caravan industry across Australia is booming.

More and more Australians are hitting the road. They want to see the many delights and attractions our vast country has to offer. More and more caravan parks springing up in popular destinations. Also, a huge variety of caravan makes and models on the market. So now really is the best time to start caravanning!

Jayco is number one

Privately owned by leading businessman and entrepreneur Gerry Ryan, Jayco is Australia’s number one manufacturer of caravans. Every second caravan sold in Australia is made by Jayco. It’s great to see a family owned business dominating with 50% of the market. This keeping jobs and investment here in Australia and Victoria.

Jayco’s range of caravans start from budget friendly options valued at $10,000. Or how about a premium motorhomes worth almost $200,000? That would be nice! Last year the company planned to make 12,000 caravans, valued at $600 million.

Baby boomers and families fuelling growth

The article, by Lisa Allen, states that baby boomers and young families are fuelling the market.

“As more cashed-up baby boomers hit retirement, many choose to hit the road with all the creature comforts. At the same time, young families are flocking to caravans for a cheap summer holiday.”

Also, the low Australian dollar makes international travel more expensive. Consequently, this makes now a perfect time to take a holiday at home, the story explains.
